Funeral expenses for Lulu Santiago

UPDATE: Thank you all for your donations. Lulu was laid to rest on July 17, 2023. Between Lulu's estate, her life insurance, and GoFundMe donations, we were able to cover $11,666 dollars out of the $14,794 owed for her funeral and burial. Once again we appreciate all the love and support.

On July 10, 2023, Leduvina "Lulu" Santiago departed this earth and joined our Heavenly Father. She is survived by four children. She was 83 years old.

Lulu was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Chicago when she was only 12 years old. Her name "Leduvina" means "friend of the village," which is a perfect description for the kind of person she was. She lived in the Las Moradas Apartments for over twenty years and loved sparking up conversations with her neighbors, who were always just as happy to see her. "I'm so popular," she would say with a smile. We thank everyone for showing Lulu so much love during her long and blessed life.

However, the family is struggling with funeral expenses. Despite regularly paying for life insurance for over 20 years, we were shocked and discouraged to learn that her insurance would only provide us with barely enough money to afford a casket. Unfortunately, many companies love to prey on the elderly and non-native English speakers, and we believe Lulu may have been a victim of that. Please consider a donation so we can give Lulu the memorial she deserves.
