Funeral Expenses for Sergeant Major Shawn M Reaume
Donation protected
We are devastated by the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Shawn Reaume. Shawn passed away in his home on 10/28/22. He left behind four children, Aprii, Eryn, Justin and Ashley, seven grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shawn was a wonderful and important part of his community. He was a Sergeant in the U.S Marine Corps, serving from 1984-1990, where he was honorably discharged after years of exemplary service. Shawn was hired on as a Reserved Officer with the Atlantic Beach Police Department in May of 1990 while serving in the Marine Corps. He continued in that role until he retired in 2017 as a Major when duty called again, and Shawn had to move back home to be with family and help aid his ailing mother, Ava Reaume.
Shawn loved bonsai trees, the Wizard of Oz, Rudolph, fishing, being outdoors and especially being on the beach, grilling and listening to his wide range of music. Shawn loved the water so much that he became a PADI Certified open water diver. Shawn had recently found the art of woodworking, where he had created an array of beautiful pieces ranging from cutting boards to furniture pieces. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes and making anyone crack up.
Shawn touched the lives of those around him. He spent most of his life helping, protecting, and sacrificing for the safety and health of others and never asked for anything in return. A true definition of a hero, but Shawn would have never considered himself that. He was selfless and caring and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Therefore, we are asking for donations to help a veteran and long-serving public servant get the funeral he deserves, honor his memory, and say our last goodbyes.
Nothing can ease his children's pain and the loss that will weigh heavy on all that loved him. Still, we ask for any kindness and generosity to ensure that his children have one less thing to worry about during this tragic time and help honor Shawn as he deserves. All proceeds will go to funeral expenses, and any extra will go to his children.
One of Shawn’s favorite quotes is: “A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.” L. Frank Baum
