Funeral Expenses for Shirley Hatley

Mrs. Shirley Ward Hatley, 83, of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Amorem Hospice in Hudson, following a period of declining health.

Shirley was born August 3, 1938, in Watauga County, NC, to the late Council Ward and America Camille Trivette Ward. Shirley was part owner and operator of Rhodhiss Service and Alignment. She will be remembered as an amazing mother and grandmother to her own children, as well as other children in the community who would stop in to see her at the service station. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Hatley, Sr; son, Larry C. Phillips; four brothers; and six sisters.

Survivors include her children, Terresa Day and boyfriend Franklin Sanford of Morganton; Teresa Denny and husband Darrell of Lenoir, Donnie Hatley, Jr. of Alexandria, VA; Jeanna Carroll of Lenoir, Robert Phillips and girlfriend Christy Dotson of Hudson, and Ronnie Phillips and wife Jennifer of Hudson; grandchildren, Brandi Day, Erica Herrera and husband Diego, Autumn Walker and husband Andrew, Nathan Carroll and wife Brooke, Jessica Clark, Renee Dula, Michael Dula, Tyler Dotson, Christopher Dotson, Nolan Phillips, Kira Phillips, and Madison Phillips; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Day, Eva Hernandez, Emerson Herrera, Finn Herrera, Annesley Ross, Aiden Herman, and Aubrey Carmack; and great-great-grandchild, Kaylee Stiles.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stephen Owen and Rev. David Ward officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
