Funeral Expenses for the Jeremy Malone Family

44-year-old, Jeremy Malone, a 21-year law enforcement officer with the George County Sheriff's Department, was shot and killed in the line of duty last night, January 4th, 2024.

Jeremy was the loving husband of 13 years to his wife, Hilary, and caring father to three daughters, Abbie (18), Alivia (11), and Brooklyn (8).

He will be sorely missed by all of his family, friends, and entire community. The Department of Public Safety asks for prayers for all who knew and loved Jeremy.

All expenses that are raised will go directly to the family.

A George County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop with a subject at a location on Highway 98 in Lucedale, Mississippi on Thursday, January 4th, 2024.

While the deputy was approaching the vehicle, the subject fatally shot the deputy and fled the scene. Multiple agencies were made aware of this incident and began to respond. The Mississippi Highway Patrol and George County Sheriff’s Department engaged the subject near Beaumont, Mississippi, where multiple rounds were fired. The subject received fatal injuries at this location.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
