Funeral expense’s for the Luu family

My name is Jimmy Luu, and I am the grandson of Chau Luu. On October 22nd, around 5 AM, my dad took my grandpa to the hospital because his stomach was hurting and he couldn’t sleep. Once there, doctors told us they discovered that my grandpa had a perforation in his large intestine that required emergency surgery. We were told that the surgery went off without a problem, and his lab results showed he was headed in the right direction. Once my parents were informed of the situation, they went to visit my grandpa, who was now recovering in the ICU, and things looked okay since he was finally sleeping for the first time in a few days. After my parents left so my dad could drop my mom back home, they received a phone call from the hospital telling us that they had performed “emergency procedures” on my grandpa. They said that my grandpa’s blood pressure was too high, so they gave him some labetalol to drop his heart rate. The doctor told us a few minutes after the hospital administered the medicine to my grandpa that his blood pressure dropped too rapidly, and they couldn’t save him. Once my parents, brother, and girlfriend got there, they were informed that my grandpa had died. I was at work when I received the call to head to the hospital and knew immediately what had happened. Over the next 4-5 hours after his death, family members, friends, and loved ones spent time by his side. I spent the past 19 years of my life with my grandpa, and because everything happened so suddenly, i never got to say goodbye to him. He raised and took care of me while my parents were working; he raised me more than my parents did. I will always regret not being able to tell him I love him or tell him goodbye. His funeral cost is $22,000, and my family is deciding to divide it three ways. My goal with this GoFundMe is to help relieve at least a third of the burden on my family.
