Todd was one of those guys that would always do what he could to help someone. He played football at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the early 80’s and after his playing days, he was a big brother to so many players that followed him. He never met a stranger and he always put others first.
Diagnosed in April 2017 with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable blood cancer, Todd began the fight of his life. Shortly after his diagnosis, Todd had Quintuple Heart Bypass surgery. Even through his health crisis, he never stopped caring for others and was always available to his friends. Though Todd shrunk to 160lbs, his spirit remained as positive as the once big man that played football in Memorial Stadium on Saturdays all those years ago.
On June 6th, 2019, Todd was stricken with influenza in his bloodstream after arriving in Las Vegas. Todd brought his son, Isaiah on a college visit to UNLV and attend their football camp. Tammy, Todd’s wife flew out immediately with their 2 sons, Andre and Isaiah (who had returned home to RI for high school finals), following close on her heels as the doctors gave them little hope. Because of Todd’s weakened immune system and an already compromised heart, Todd had an uphill fight. He beat sepsis, which the doctors were amazed; but unfortunately, the Myeloma ravaged throughout his body causing multiple organ failure. Almost 3 weeks after being admitted to ICU, Todd went into Hospice where he passed away surrounded by immediate family and close family friends.
Given the circumstances of Todd being in a Vegas hospital far from their Rhode Island home, the family has incurred a litany of bills; medical as well as hotel and food.
There are a lot of unexpected costs that come when these unexpected circumstances happen. We are looking to help ease the costs for the family and help pay medical bills, fly Todd home where he so desperately wanted to be and to bury this man that generously gave of himself before others.
Thank you and God Bless.
