Funeral expenses for Travis Shrout
Donation protected
Last night we lost one of our beloved Salty Dog Vacation family. Our Head of Maintenance, Travis Shrout, will forever be in our hearts. Travis was one of the hardest working men around-frequently staying at our properties until midnight getting things fixed so guests could have a great vacation and our homeowners did not have to worry. Just this past week, during the hurricane preparations, Travis told me that he didn't want to get paid to help get all of the houses ready for the storm; he just wanted people to know their homes were as safe as they could be. Travis worked tirelessly putting up storm shutters, bringing in the heavy furniture and ensuring things were secured. It never mattered what time, what the job was or where he was needed; Travis would get there as fast as he could and do the best job, even when his plate was already full.
Like all of us, Travis wasn't perfect, nor did he profess to be. He was loyal to a fault, honest and a friend to anyone that needed him. Even when there was a rough patch, Travis took the high road and shot things straight. He looked out for those he loved and felt it was his job to protect us all. We had many heartfelt chats, and he shared the demons he was working through. If I could tell him one last thing, it would be, "you are worthy, you are important, and we are all proud of how hard you are working to be the best version of yourself you can be."
Nobody was more honored to wear a Salty Dog shirt than Travis. When our new logo shirts came in two weeks ago, Travis came barrelling into the office to claim his as fast as possible. When he finally got his own desk in the office, he would grin ear-to-ear just sitting there. He was so excited about the opportunities ahead. We are honored to call Travis a Salty Dog.
Unfortunately, Travis had a lot that weighed on him and very sadly, the demons he was working through were too much for him to bear. Travis leaves behind his beloved Jaime and their children. Jaime is also a Salty Dog and our Operations Manager. We hope to help Jaime offset or cover funeral expenses during this challenging time.
We thank you for your help.
