Funeral expenses, head stone, and lawyer fees
Donation protected
I, the mother of Derrick Ollie Scott need funds to cover funeral costs that are owed to the funeral home that buried my son May 20, 2019. He has no head stone, and proper representation is needed seeing that this case is still unresolved one year later. The OKCPD still has not allowed me nor my family members to view the tape, nor the body camera footage that we as a family know will provide incriminating evidence against them. We have struggled financially so my brother, Pastor Ronald Scott and his wife Wilma have helped as much as they could and we are thankful for that. Otherwise Jesus Christ is the only lawyer that we could afford, and we do believe this is HE who is opening the door for the story of my son to be heard one year later. We do grieve with the loved ones of recent tragedies yet we are thankful for the opportunity these tragedies has brought forth and hope other grieving families will be able to capitalize where justice has been absent up to this point. The average lawyer is quick to decline a case against the OKCPD, and the lawyers that will take the case are pricey-yet we know we must fight for justice, and keep the case from being buried as insignificant. Therefore all donations are needed and greatly appreciated. My son died because of lack of breathe. While handcuffed a police officer sat on his back for thirteen minutes during an asthma attack at the same time telling the cop he couldn't breathe he was ignored. He was dead at the scene but moments after was taken to the hospital and left handcuffed to a rail for almost two days then taken to the coroner where an autopsy was performed before we were told he was dead four days later. To this day they still haven't even released his property to us. It is very frustrating to know what poor black families go through in Oklahoma. We pray this changes in Oklahoma because at this rate we will continually treated like trash-given excessive time for petty crimes, and murdered by police like animals. I am thankful for my faith in Christ, because without it how could I not be full of anger, malice, and bitterness. I miss my son dearly. I am thankful for the one holiday season that we had a chance to share. Proper representation and closure are pretty much all we can reach for now. He was succeeded by his son Derrick Ollie Jr., daughter Aaliyah (who was valedictorian her senior year 2017-2018), and two grand children Malea and Zion. Please pray for us as we pray for other struggling families.
