Funeral Services for Amaya Patterson

We are crushed. We are in disbelief. We are hurting. But, we are thankful, thankful for every moment we got to spend with Amaya. We will cherish those moments forever, they are priceless.
At age 22, Amaya’s medical journey began on February 13th, the day that changed everything. Amaya had an AVM bleed, which also caused a stroke. She spent the past 3 months in and out of the hospital, including at least 7 brain surgeries. Amaya even celebrated her 23rd birthday during all of this. She kept a positive attitude about her recovery, even though she so dearly missed being at home with her brothers Brett and Jordan, Tyrae, her mom, her nephew Ashton, and her 2 cute pups (during her recovery, she stayed with “Aunt Mickey” when not in the hospital because she needed 24/7 care, and to be closer to the best care possible). Unfortunately, after her long road of moving forward followed by several setbacks, Amaya had additional spinal cord fluid build-up, which caused her to go into cardiac arrest and having to have yet another brain surgery, which led to scans resulting in the tragic news that she had no brain activity. Ultimately she succumbed to her illness on May 22.
Amaya … when we think of Amaya, we think about the sweet girl with the sassy, straight forward, funny, quick-with-it, witty responses. All that knew her, know that there are many funny stories to be shared together. Amaya's sweet smile always filled the room. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, girlfriend, granddaughter, niece, and friend.
We are all devastated by Amaya's loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service, especially after the cost of the past several months of care throughout her journey. We want to give Amaya the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes. I am currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Amaya's funeral.
