Funeral for Big Chief Cream; Grieving Fund

This fundraiser is for my friend and neighbor, Carl Mutin and it is linked directly to his account.

Carl is 60 years old and has been the sole caregiver of his father, Alvin "Big Chief Cream" Mutin for the last 14 years.

Carl's daddy transitioned from this earthly plane 3 days ago on November 26, 2021 at the age of 89.

Alvin Mutin was born on March 3, 1934 and grew up in the 7th Ward of New Orleans with his five brothers and sisters. He was a cook at Rick's Pancake Cottage on Canal Street for 25 years. He was married to Beatrice Clemens Mutin for 10 years and they had 4 children together. He was the Third Chief of the Yellow Pocahontas Tribe, which he joined in the 1950's. He was an honoree of the Mardi Gras Indian Hall of Fame in 2014. He is survived by many loving friends and family.

Carl Mutin is Alvin's youngest child. He is a mechanic and jazz musician who has been taking care of his daddy for the last 14 years. For the past 2 years, Alvin has been bedridden and Carl has taken care of him day and night, ultimately having to set aside his life as a musician to be able to be there for his father.

We need to raise money for the funeral and burial which l will costs upwards of $11,000. The funeral date will not be able to be set until Carl raises the money to cover it, so this is an immediate ask. We also wish to raise money to support Carl during this time of profound grief, so that he may have time to rest, recover and process the loss of his father, and not have to worry about fast-approaching rent and bills for the time being.
