FUNERAL FOR CESAR ABREGO AND CONTINUED CARE EXPENSES

Hi, our names are Colombia and Ciela Abrego, and we are fundraising for funeral expenses for our beloved father, Cesar Abrego, who was brutally and unexpectedly murdered while outside his property on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Our dad had missed some of the years of our lives but was bent upon making up for all lost time with us. To illustrate his selfless sacrifices for us, he was fully vested in his devotion to us and was actually servicing Ciela's vehicle when he was gunned down. Our dad was not in the best of health but was committed to do all he could to provide for our dependent brother Cobi, who suffers impairment from autism and paranoia and schizophrenia. Dad always tried to be a fixture and encouraging, happy presence in our lives. Despite the extreme challenges from such mental illness, Dad refused to abandon Cobi and constantly reminded himself and others that he could not bear to allow Cobi to "fall through the cracks." Yes, he would sometimes vent but would almost immediately conclude with his faith that the Lord would work the challenges out. Then, he would forget about himself and then proceed to encourage his audience in the Lord for whatever they were being challenged with. Ciela and I are not financially equipped or prepared for the undertaking of managing the extremes of our brother's mental illness but hope that our "ask" will at least enable us to gain some footing for what lies ahead. Thus, as children and as siblings, we are trying to honour and continue the desires and wishes of our father (and of ourselves) for our brother. We realize that we are in for a long, eventful task ahead as we pick up the pieces in our brother's care. Of course, we will be eternally and deeply grateful for all prayers, love, and contributions -- large and small -- for us and for our father, Cesar Abrego, as you help in our cause.
