Hi, my 16 year old son took his life on June 2 on the train tracks in Baldwin park. He suffered so much from depression, and bullying from being autistic. This caused him so much pain. I tried everything I could. We went to therapy, doctors put him on multiple medications. He was seeing caregivers and every system that could help him, but it wasn’t enough.

He was always made fun of at school for how he looked, dressed and talked. We pleaded with the school district to allow him to be homeschool, it’s what he wanted, what we wanted, and ultimately could have made the difference. They didn’t allow it and it led to the worst possible outcome.

The day it happened he called me saying he was sorry and that he was too ugly for the world and it just broke me! I tried to get the police to look for him but by the time they found him it was too late.

As a family we are disappointed at the lack of safety precautions being put in place by the Baldwin Park train station. It should not have been this easy for a 16 year old boy to lose his life, this could happen to anyone.

We plead for your support, anything helps, we wish we didn’t have to do this or ask for your support today. We wish we could see him again. Please help us say goodbye to Diego properly and in the way he deserves.

Hola, mi hijo de 16 años se quitó la vida el 2 de junio en las vías del tren en el parque Baldwin. Sufría mucho de depresión y bullying por ser autista. Esto le causó mucho dolor. Intenté todo lo que pude. Fuimos a terapia, los médicos le recetaron varios medicamentos. Veía a los cuidadores y a todos los sistemas que podían ayudarlo, pero no era suficiente.

Siempre se burlaban de él en la escuela por cómo se veía, vestía y hablaba. Le suplicamos al distrito escolar que le permitiera estudiar en casa, es lo que él quería, lo que nosotros queríamos y, en última instancia, podría haber marcado la diferencia. No lo permitieron y condujo al peor resultado posible.

El día que sucedió me llamó diciendo que lo sentía y que era demasiado feo para el mundo y ¡simplemente me rompió! Traté de que la policía lo buscara, pero cuando lo encontraron ya era demasiado tarde.

Como familia, estamos decepcionados por la falta de precauciones de seguridad implementadas por la estación de tren de Baldwin Park. No debería haber sido tan fácil para un chico de 16 años perder la vida, esto le puede pasar a cualquiera.

Pedimos su apoyo, cualquier cosa ayuda, deseamos no tener que hacer esto o pedir su apoyo hoy. Ojalá pudiéramos volver a verlo. Ayúdanos a despedirnos de Diego como se merece y como se merece.
