Funeral for Elijah K Whittington

Donation protected
On behalf of Elijah's mother Krystal, I am starting this gofundme with a profoundly heavy heart. On April 19th at approximately 11:45 am. This amazing young man was on his motorcycle driving through Rivergate when a woman ran the red light and hit Elijah head on. He was launched from his motorcycle onto the car and then to the ground. Off-duty paramedics were close by and worked on him tirelessly until EMT could arrive, unfortunately, his immense injuries were too much for his body to overcome and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The woman that hit him, ran from the scene and left him there to die without so much as a phone call for help. He was only 20 years old.

Elijah was a light in this world to all that knew him, he had a bright and amazing smile, a laugh that would lift the weight of the world and a love for God and people that made him a life changer! Just weeks before this incident, Elijah was riding his bike across the green bridge in Old Hickory to Madison and came upon a man contemplating jumping from that bridge. Most 20-year-olds would have kept on driving. NOT Elijah, with a gentle spirit, stopped his bike, gently approached as close as the man would allow and talked to him and was able to alert authorities to get this man away from the ledge. He truly LOVED, people. Elijah was a patched-in member at Soul Revival Biker Church, he served on the team for food ministry and media team.

He is survived by his mother, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles and a young woman he planned to spend his life with as well as a list as long as the horizon of people who called him a friend and loved one. As with many young people, there was no life insurance policy, no one expects to bury a 20-year-old. His life was cut short by neglect and frivolous selfish behavior that changed his family forever. His family and church family are asking for your support to help with the costs of his final expenses and to assist his mother with the time she will need to take from work for the grief, the handling of burial and the long road ahead and time she will have to take from work etc. for the upcoming trial that will be a part of their lives due to the negligence of the woman who took his life and now Krystal, Elijah's mother will have to face her in a courtroom for what has destroyed their family as she knows it. Please give anything you can, 5 dollars or 5,000.00 final expenses are not expected at 20 years old and this is a huge financial strain on this family. Please help take this burden from them so she can focus on the love they have for him and not how they will pay for putting him to rest. We thank you all for the outpouring of love and support, they need it and please watch the roads for motorcyclists, they are someone's sons and daughters!

We will announce final arrangement and updates as they become available. The family are working on service arrangements as soon as possible so all the support is so needed!
The donations are going specifically to the Funeral Costs for a viewing casket, celebration of life ceremony, transport, to the church, back to the facility, cremation, urns, food, possible legal fees for the family as they seek charges against the driver and covering their household expenses for the time off work for the loss, grieving and upcoming court case that they will be enduring as they face the driver for what she has done! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
