95 Dr. Jing Mai Mental Wellness

Hi, my name is Kristene Mai.

My sister, Jing Mai, took her own life on September 5th. Part of me still wants to believe this is some cruel nightmare that I will wake up from, and Jing will be there asking me if I'd like to go on a morning hike with her.

For the last few months, Jing has struggled with insomnia, anxiety, and feeling inadequate as a first year resident physician. Despite receiving therapy, medications, and support from loved ones and family, she ultimately decided how she could finally rest.

As my older sister, Jing was my role model, the pillar I could always lean on, the glue that brought our family members together. I hope she finds peace where she is now, and I will always miss her.

This fundraiser was initially for funeral and memorial costs. Now, my dad would like to use any additional donations to advocate and help medical students also struggling with mental health.
