In Memory of Thomas McIntyre a.k.a IRISH
Initially, this fundraise campaign was set up to help IRISH's wife Lisa (in picture below) giving a proper funeral for her beloved husband. Just a few days into the campaign launch, his long-lost-but-not-forgotten family members found us through this page. While the family wholeheartedly appreciate all of the generous support that people in the community has shown, they will now take charge of the funeral arrangement and expenses. They requested the monies raised here to be donated in his name to the Third Street Men’s Shelter located on the block where he was the proud 'mayor'.

It was in the middle of the heatwave on June 30, 2021, Thomas McIntyre a.k.a IRISH was sitting on one of the porches on E 3rd street just like any other day when his heart failed. The ambulance was called and took him to Beth Israel but he did not come back. It was so sudden that it is still hard to comprehend that he is really gone.
IRISH was a fixture on E 3rd street and beyond. Perhaps you have seen him cracking jokes with mail carriers and officers while sweeping the curbside, taking a snooze while watching a parked car, claiming the title of 'mayor of the block' with his hand holding a broom. He was an extraordinary man with the kindest heart, always ready to chat and help anyone on the street.
I am one of the neighbors who saw him everyday and came to know him better over the years.
The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2021, between 3pm and 7pm (viewing).

Please spread the word, and show up if you can on Saturday to celebrate the life and spirit of this very special man. THANK YOU.
