David Leon Olsen Obituary:
On a scale of 1-4, you’ll need 4 Prozacs and an additional 3 Wellbutrin to make it through Punk’s obituary. Punk would also recommend you pour a bowl of Star Wars cereal, grab a blue raspberry craft soda, a package of Sixlets and some Garbage Pail Kids candy.
To his X-96 family, he was known as Punk, but to his immediate family, he was known as David Leon Olsen. David fought a long and painful battle with non-alcoholic liver disease.
David was a proud Eagle Scout. He loved to recount tales of his 50-mile hikes and the contraband he carried in his backpack. David is one of the few Eagle Scouts who never earned a swimming merit badge. He fulfilled many extra requirements to avoid getting in the water.
David graduated from Viewmont High School in 1988 and went on to earn a Bachelors of Integrated Science in History, Mathematics, and Design Graphics from Weber State University. After graduating from Weber State, David worked for Taco Maker and EDA as an Architectural Manager. David expected a high level of design. He was loved by customers and feared by contractors. Working on the SLC airport was one of his favorite projects.
David was a Comic-Con nerd, an avid toy collector, and a connoisseur of music. He had more Star Wars weaponry than the Rebel Alliance, and the Galactic Empire combined.
X-96 was an important part of David’s life. David loved his role as Punk, reviewing bad movies and junk food. He enjoyed the many friends and associations he built at the station. It was always a welcome surprise over the years when a nurse or tech recognized David’s voice and asked if he was Punk from Radio from Hell.
Punk sends his love and is signing off.
Funeral Services will be on February 26th; for more information, check Russon Brothers online.
