Funeral Medical Expenses for Rencher Family
(Photo is with Jaren's mom, who has since passed away)
With his wife Leslie's permission, we are raising money to pay for Jaren's funeral and medical expenses. The medical alone is huge since Jaren was in and out of the hospital in the last few years of his life. Any extra will go for helping to support their family as they transition to a single income family.
Jaren was one of the most selfless, giving men I have ever met. He became a lawyer, but not for fame or money - he was a bankruptcy attorney for people who desperately needed it. When that was no longer providing enough income to support his family, he then changed careers for something that provided the steady paycheck and benefits from an employer - but he became a special education teacher because he still needed to feel that he was helping those most in need of help. He learned to be that kind of person from his parents, and from his religion, for which he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a young man.
He and Leslie were blessed with 5 wonderful, intelligent, fun children, for whom they did anything and everything they could. They are now 11 to 24 years old. He was so proud of all of them and they and Leslie were his whole world. They loved to go camping, to writing and fan conventions and were a fixture at local sci-fi/fantasy writing and fan events.
Jaren struggled with diabetes and the complications which arose from it, especially these last few years. Most recently, he had his foot and lower leg amputated in April due to a serious infection that the doctors were unable to cure. He spent two weeks in rehab after leaving the hospital, where due to Covid-19, Leslie had been unable to visit him. He got out of the hospital and was home only a few days, when he passed away unexpectedly, only a day after his daughter Emily returned from her mission, just in time to say goodbye.
Due to Jaren's many hospitalizations and his unexpected passing, Leslie does not have the funds to pay for his burial and funeral. Any help that you can give will be greatly appreciated. Their oldest child is out of state and may not be able to come and visit the family, and they still have another son on a mission. Thank you for supporting them at this time.
