Funeral Memorial Fund for Clark Depew
Donation protected
Our beloved Clark Depew recently passed on November 5th, 2022. Clark was greeted at the gates of heaven with the words, “Well done, well done, good and faithful one, you have run the race, and now you are home.” Clark was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many around him. Many have stated that the world has lost a wonderful man. He leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Depew, son Joe Depew (wife Linda Depew), daughter Rachel Iacoli (husband Trent Iacoli), daughter Melissa O’Connor (husband Chris O’Connor), daughter Crystal Depew, grandchildren, and many close friends and neighbors. Clark was preceded in death by his son James Depew.
Clark dedicated his life to serving others. Clark committed six years to the US Army, where he took pride in protecting his country. During this time, Clark worked in the airborne force as a paratrooper. Clark is a Vietnam veteran and a prisoner of war. Clark served as a firefighter in Morgan County and is known for saving the homes and properties of many neighbors. Being an EMT in Morgan County was a job that Clark took seriously, and he was the first at any call to help his community. Clark was on the frontlines of many accidents and devastating scenes where he was the first step to safety/healing or provided comfort and support in the most dreadful times. Clark positively impacted the future of firefighters and EMTs by teaching CPR and emergency preparedness classes.
Clark worked at Harman Becker for nearly 30 years. He took great pride in his work and created many positive memories and friendships that have lasted a lifetime. While working at Harman Becker, Clark was the union president and led factory education for safety initiatives.
Clark loved his family and close friends. He always appreciated the time he spent with the ones he loved. Often, he was the highlight of the party by telling his “good ole” stories that everyone loved. He loved his home in Wilbur, where he spent much time and dedication to making the family property a true beauty in the hills. As a kid, he was one of Bob Phillip’s ISB band boys. Clark was a pristine mechanic and enjoyed “fixing” up old cars. You would often see him driving through the hills in a vintage vehicle. When his family came to visit, he often convinced them to ride in whatever vehicle he was working on. Clark was an avid fisherman and was known to have successful fishing trips.
Clark has suffered ample illnesses over the past ten years, including a heart attack, stroke, cancer, and kidney disease, forcing him to complete dialysis treatment three days a week for four years. Due to these disabling illnesses, Clark and Betty have been unable to work for some time. Not being able to work has devastated Clark and Betty as they took pride in working and providing for their family and home. Betty has been his dedicated full-time caretaker, allowing Clark the quality of life he deserves. Betty has taken great pride in caring for Clark and has asked for little help from others. Due to these difficult circumstances, the family is not prepared for the high expense of a funeral service. We want to give Clark the memorial he deserves to honor his life and say our goodbyes.
We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Clark’s funeral expenses. We need to raise $15,000 to be able to afford the funeral services.
Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help this caring and loving family during this difficult time. The family is asking instead of flowers; please donate to this fund.
