Funeral & Memorial Fund for Willie Shiflet

We are devastated by the tragic and untimely passing of Willie Shiflet, who just turned 20 this past summer. After enduring some hardship, Willie was looking for a fresh start. To begin this new chapter, Willie packed his bags and moved to Seattle to live with his sister, DJ, who he looked up to as a mentor and a role model. Upon arriving to Seattle, Willie got a job as a valet at a hotel and was beginning to create a new life.

 

On December 19, 2021, Willie died in his home he shared with DJ in Seattle, Washington. We are starting this fundraiser to assist DJ and her family in honoring Willie’s life. The money will go towards covering Willie’s funeral, cremation, celebration of life, travel expenses for the family, and many more unexpected costs as they prepare to lay their brother and son to rest.

 

Willie was born in Sacramento, California on August 02, 2001. From the beginning, Willie excelled at almost anything he did and was not afraid of trying new things. In addition to playing football, basketball, and baseball Willie was a gifted musician. Willie started playing instruments in third grade, and by the time he was in high school, he could play almost any instrument he touched. Mastering more than six instruments including the saxophone, drums, trombone, bass, and clarinet, Willie’s family would often catch him in the band room with yet another new instrument in his hands. With the desire to accelerate his path, Willie figured out how to graduate from Aspire Academy High School in Minden, Nevada six-months early. Outside of all the things he did, Willie was known for his beautiful spirit and his propensity for never giving up. Willie will be remembered for the person he was—for his smile, his heart, and what he meant to each person who knew him. 

 

Although Willie walked-on, the legacy of his strength and perseverance lives in the hearts of his family and friends.

 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held for Willie’s immediate family. There will be a celebration of life for Willie in Minden, Nevada with details forthcoming.
