Funeral of Jude Offor & Rebuild Shelter For Widow
Donation protected
It is with overwhelming sadness I seek to notify the public of the painful death of our beloved Jude Offor whose residence was brutally attacked by terrorists leading to his gruesome murder on Saturday 26th November, 2022 in Nigeria, consequently rendering his bereaved wife and adopted daughter homeless. It is the urgent need to build them a shelter, clothe them, continue to pay for daughter's tuition and equip her with relevant books and writing materials throughout her school years and give Jude a befitting burial, that we seek to raise £18,500 from the public through this fundraiser as we were not prepared for this adversity.
Like every other family, Jude had retired to bed with his wife, adopted daughter and Son (who came around at the insistent plea of his community elders to chant a way on how to build an anti terrorist group to help repel the incessant security attacks of bandits and terrorists in the community and region at large).
At about 1:00am while the family was trying to catch some night rest for Jude’s Community outreach scheduled for the next day (an act of kindness he performed dutifully), terrorists bearing different weapons stormed his residence and gained entrance by throwing grenades. He bravely dispersed his family members to safety like the great father he is. But the blood seekers demanded for his son as they have got wind of the reason of his visit, Jude refused to yield and then they cocked their guns and released its pangs on him, Jude was determined to stay alive, he fought his way out and tried to escape with the wounds, but was intercepted and cruelly killed.
This atrocious act was further heightened by setting his residence ablaze, they ensured to raze down everything including the cars used for the Community outreach and all he ever worked for that could have stood as an effigy of his memory to his children and posterity.
Jude was a man of peace, he exuded love and extended an aura of care and a selfless disposition towards all. He lived for the community, served his people wholly, he was a father to orphans in the community and a succour to widows and the less privileged, he clothed and fed them. In addition, the door of his house was thrown open to all within the community and beyond. How could a man so kind die such a horrid death!
This whole episode has left his wife and daughter of 11 years most traumatized and numbed as they were the direct witnesses to the grisly murder of Jude. His children and entire family with the community have been thrown into a state of melancholy and fear.
The thought of having a bleak Christmas has cast a shadow on all who had contact with Jude because he was the literal ‘Father Christmas’ to the community. His bereaved wife is still in shock, her Christmas will be solemn and devoid of the boisterous activities of cooking and hosting community members for the first time after many years of serving humanity with her husband in a home that has now been reduced to rubbles.
As a daughter-in law who has a direct relationship with the deceased and bereaved wife, I am painfully aware of the extent of damage and the high funds required to ameliorate this distasteful situation. I am making this fundraising appeal as the only viable option at my disposal to pull the funds required to build and furnish a home for the widow of the man who once cared for other widows and to give Jude a befitting burial as an honour he deserved which would be cost intensive for his bereaved family, we are highly devastated and unprepared as no one foresaw this calamity.
In addition, the funds would help us get his adopted daughter who is currently out of school back to school, pay her tuition and equip her with relevant books and writing materials, we intend to pay for supplies, clothes and other needed items.
Our desire is to mitigate the intense effect of Jude’s death on his wife and daughter in order to give them the ease required. We would like to light up their faces at Christmas. You see why your donations will be highly valued? If we don’t raise sufficient funds for this course, the widow may never get a roof over her head and every hope of giving the adopted daughter a good life will be dashed. We count on your support.
Thank you
Favour.
