Funeral Services and Memorial for Lisa Hofmeister

Hello Dear Friends and Family,

The Situation

I'm sitting down to create this with great sadness in my heart for the loss of my mother, Lisa Hofmeister. Although this is a challenging time and the grief I'm feeling is quite painful, I know that my mom is free after years of suffering and pain. For most of her life, she struggled with addiction and a list of physical and psychological issues that are too many to describe here. A week ago, she was in a severe car accident that landed her in the hospital, and ultimately her tired body and lungs could no longer do the work to keep her alive.

I drove down to Louisiana a little over a week ago and have been by her side at the hospital each day, loving her and helping to make her comfortable. We've had a strained relationship over the years due to her lifestyle, and I'm happy to say that we were able to reconcile and heal before her passing, and that's such a big deal.

This experience has been very taxing and expensive, and now I'm looking at the expenses to cover her end-of-life services and memorial. My mom didn't have any life insurance and lived hand-to-mouth on government assistance, so there wasn't a nest egg to cover things in this situation. Although I'm gainfully employed and abundant, the combination of some recent personal life changes and the trip down to be with her has put me in a place where I don't have the savings to cover these expenses myself. Also, I am her only child, and taking care of these things falls on me.

Memorial

For those of you who don't know, my mom was a bright talent and quite the local celebrity in the Baton Rouge Blues Scene in the 80s and 90s. She worked with some of the best and brightest musicians in the area and was well respected. I'm in touch with some of the guys she used to work with, and together we will create a memorial blues jam at the venue where she sang and rocked the house for years. The funds you donate will help cover the expenses to create this event. I will also collect donations for the non-profit When The Music Stops. This organization supports emotional and mental health through music, connection, and love.
