Funeral Services for Ruth Nelson

Donation protected
Dearest family and friends are celebrating the going home of Ruth Elizabeth Nelson of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ruthie went home on Sunday, May 17, 2020 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. We are asking for financial support during the Covid19 pandemic as many family and friends are currently struggling financially.

Ruthie was a major contributor to the Cambridge community. She was on the basketball team of Cambridge High and Latin (before it became CRLS). She was a faithful lifetime member of St Paul’s AME church and sang with The New Temple Singers Choir there. She dedicated her life to helping others. She was a substitute teacher in Cambridge and Malden. Ruthie was a staff member at the Hildebrand homeless shelter and held a position at the Action Community Development program (ABCD) in Boston, MA. She also sang  in the New England Conservatory Choir.

She was a strong woman and mother survived by her two children Nichole Nelson and Jamyel Collins along with their spouses Derone Nelson and Jennifer Collins respectively. She also has nine grandchildren including Marquita, Latitia, Shaquel, Jamyel Jr, Tatiana, Justice, Jasmin, Derone Jr, and Jenna. Her legacy will also live on through her great-grandchildren Cayden, Jeshua, Justice II and Jacob.

Thank you for all your support and love during this time of healing.

Love and appreciation from the family of Ruth E. Nelson ❤️
