Funeral Services fund for Rodrigo Hernandez

On the evening of October 19th I saw my brother for the last time. He was wearing a dark hoodie, an Angels baseball cap, and he was leaving home to go get what he was craving :tacos.

When i said bye i didn't know that would be the last time we would ever speak again. Hours later, at around 10PM he was hit by a vehicle traveling west bound on Parkridge Ave. The driver didn't even stop to check if he was ok. He kept driving and fled the scene, leaving my brother on the side of the street to die at only 40 years of age.

I was able to grow and see different stages of my brothers life. I have many memories of us when i was a young kid. Going to baseball games, getting picked up from school and even staying up past midnight waiting for him to come home from work because i knew he would be bringing home food. Usually our favorite buffalo wings.

I know his best accomplishments were yet to come, and i know he was taken too soon.

He leaves behind his son, a father, a mother, a brother, 2 nieces and 1 nephew, and an entire family who loved him wether he was quiet and in his thoughts, or making a room of people laugh.

We will all miss him, but it brings me comfort that he is reunited with my sister. I hope he is at peace, and is able to watch over us until we meet again.

La tarde del 19 de octubre vi a mi hermano por última vez. Llevaba una sudadera con capucha oscura, una gorra de béisbol de los Angelinos y salía de casa para ir a buscar lo que se le antojaba: tacos.

Cuando me despedí no sabía que sería la última vez que volveríamos a hablar. Horas más tarde, alrededor de las 10 p. m., fue atropellado por un vehículo que viajaba hacia el oeste por Parkridge Ave. El conductor ni siquiera se detuvo para comprobar si estaba bien. Siguió conduciendo y huyó del lugar, dejando a mi hermano al costado de la calle para que muriera con solo 40 años de edad.

Pude crecer y ver diferentes etapas de la vida de mi hermano. Tengo muchos recuerdos de nosotros cuando era niño. Ir a partidos de béisbol juntos, cuando me recogieran en la escuela e incluso quedarme despierto hasta pasada la medianoche esperando que volviera del trabajo porque sabía que traería comida a casa. Por lo general, nuestras alitas de búfalo favoritas.

Sé que sus mejores logros aún estaban por llegar y sé que se fue demasiado pronto.

Deja atrás a su hijo, un padre, una madre, un hermano, 2 sobrinas y 1 sobrino, y una familia entera que lo amaba ya sea que estuviera callado y en sus pensamientos, o haciendo reír a una sala llena de gente.

Todos lo extrañaremos, pero me reconforta que se haya reunido con mi hermana. Espero que esté en paz y pueda cuidarnos hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar.
