Funeral & Support for Hamida Andeku’s Family

On July 26, we unexpectedly lost our beloved Hamida Andeku. Her passing was sudden and unforeseen. By no means were we prepared in any capacity for the magnitude of such a loss.

Hamida was a contributor of joy to so many. She had a magical way of making a stranger instantly feel like family. It was one of her many talents. Along with being an incredible mother, artist, activist, mentor, & community leader; Hamida, was truly a light worker.

In the photo above she is donating her expertise as a professional hairstylist at “Beauty Night” a progressive, initiative she co-founded while working within the downtown east side (DTES). The intention of this program was to inspire homeless and marginalized member of the DTES community to see the beauty within themselves. It was her calling to , bring laughter, grace & so much love to all of her vocations.

My name is Rehema Andeku. Hamida was my person and I miss her terribly. I am reaching out to you for support in raising $50,000 to assist the Andeku family as we navigate this incredibly difficult transition.

The funds raised will be used to offset memorial & funeral costs, which were paid out of pocket.   Further donations will be directed towards support for Hamida’s nineteen year old daughter Ciama (whom Hamida soul-o parented), as well as assisting members of the family with Grief counselling as we navigate our loss.

True, no one is ever really prepared to loose a loved one. That said we are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you who have already reached out.
