Emmanuel Che was born on December 15th, 1993, in Weh, (Wum) Menchum Division in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, and died on November 12th, 2024. He attended Government Primary School Weh, Government Bilingual High School Etoug-Ebe Yaoundé, Cameroon. He attended the University of Yaoundé 1 where he obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biology and Microbiology. He went to the Higher Teachers’ Training College (ENS) and worked as a secondary school Biology educator in Cameroon prior to migrating to the United States in September 2022.

My name is Amundam Rejoice Che. I am from Njaah, Momo Division in the Northwest Region. My husband, daughter, and I came to the United States in September 2022. First, my husband got a temporary security job in Los Angeles that we were able to survive at that time. Thereafter, I started a chef assistance training at Maxine Walters Employment Preparatory Center for four weeks, which I did not complete because my husband was selected for the Public Health Microbiology Training in Richmond, California. It was a 6-month program, but he attended the training for four months because the county that sponsored him for the training did not have enough money for him to continue and obtain his license.

Lastly, we came to Sacramento and applied for several jobs. Unfortunately, nothing worked out until my husband fell ill and went to UC Davis Medical Health Center Sacramento, where the doctor said his kidneys are not functioning as they should, and his liver has a problem. He was on dialysis for the 4 weeks that he was in the hospital. Other lab tests were conducted and confirmed he had lymphoma. They started treatment for the lymphoma diagnosis, but nothing worked, and his blood pressure kept dropping. The doctors came up with another medication for him to bring up his blood pressure.

A few days later, the doctor discovered that he had difficulty breathing, and he was on oxygen. The doctor called me on the 12th of November at 3:45 AM to inform me that his blood pressure was very low, and that he might not make it. So, I started praying and crying at that moment that nothing would happen to my husband until 4:00 AM, and she called and updated me that he stopped breathing, and that was how he left us.

He is at the mortuary now and I do not have money for his funeral, we are also about to be homeless (my daughter and I). After the funeral, I would like to continue with my chef assistance training to obtain my certificate and get a job so that I can support my daughter and myself.

I will really appreciate everyone that will help me in this situation.

Thank You All (Rejoice and Savannah Che).
