Funeral Fund for Joseph Ramirez
Donation protected
For anyone who is not already familiar, Joseph Ramirez was a man who worked for the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless, selling newspapers in front of the Starbucks on High St. in front of the Student Union at The Ohio State University. If you are student, faculty member, or visitor of the university, you most likely came into contact with this man.
Unfortunately, he passed away on December 22, 2017 and though we have celebrated his life and legacy at a brief memorial service at the university, we have not been able to afford to honor this individual with a proper burial and funeral service. The memorial raised a great sum of money but unfortunately, it was not enough to cover all of the costs.
If you're able, please donate whatever is most comfortable. If not, I ask that you please circulate this message. He was - and remains to be - a campus institution, a beacon of light for students and strangers alike, and a friend to whomever needed one.
Fifty-four homeless or formerly homeless folks were unclaimed at the coroners office in Columbus last year. I could not live with myself if I allowed that to be the fate of my friend.
