Funeral/Medical Expenses for Mariano Guzman

On April 27, 2017, Mariano was diagnosed with metastatic cancer with extensive involvement of retroperitoneal. He won his first battle against cancer and was in remission for a brief period from January 2018 to April 2018.  Just when things were looking promising, we got the devastating news his cancer had returned. Throughout his battle Mariano went through 3 complete rounds of chemo treatment, and had began his 4th round in June 2019. On July 19, 2019, Mariano was finally transferred to USC Norris and was beginning his journey as a possible bone marrow- stem cell transplant candidate. After going through the assessments, his doctors declared him a good candidate for the bone marrow transplant on August 9th. Mariano was scheduled to begin his bone marrow transplant journey on August 20th but complications arose and he was hospitalized on August 17th. 


On September 1, 2019 Mariano's body could no longer continue fighting, his heart stopped and he was unresponsive for 20 minutes with no oxygen causing brain damage. Doctors informed family his condition was critical and did not look promising.  On September 2, 2019  his family had to make the difficult decision of respecting his wishes to let him rest in peace. 

Mariano's admirable will kept him going throughout his cancer journey. Unfortunately even with the strong love and support from his beautiful family and caring interpersonal hospital-staff, his fight against the cancer was lost. 

Any and all donations, both little and small, will help tremendously lessen the financial stress for his family. 

Being a private individual, it was nice to see Mariano sharing and updating his supporters on his cancer journey.
