Funds Towards My Final Year at Capilano U in MOPA
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Marco A Dixon. I am fundraising for myself in honour of finishing my second undergraduate bachelor's in Motion Picture Arts; I started in 2007, taking longer than expected due to health complications.
I am a person who lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy and has been pronounced dead clinically three times. Hence, as a rare individual who has gone beyond my infinite ability, I fight hard to achieve what has been placed in limbo, my current graduation at Capilano University.
In a maze, while I was in the third year of the Motion Picture Arts Program (MOPA), my health got the best of me, and I was required to withdraw under extenuating circumstances back in 2009. Since then, I have taken alternate classes associated with film and worked extremely hard to reclaim my spot in Motion Picture Arts Program. Over that time, I have earned 304.5 credits and required credentials spreading across 16 years. I hold a Certificate in Cinematography: Film and Video, a Bachelor's in Performing Arts, and an Associate's Degree in Creative Writing. I've made it through the first half of the 4th Year with the more fantastic support to finish the Bachelor of Motion Picture Arta BMPA submission back into the program.
My goal is nearly accomplished, and I entered the fourth year at my halfway point of Motion Picture Arts since September, a goal reached despite my unsteady health; I have risen above, and with one class left to finish what I started come January 2023.
With the help from Student Aid BC and the National Student Loan Centre of Canada, I got funding partially in grants and mostly in loans that supported my education, covered my health expenses and hence the personal support I needed. That funding is drained due to the number of required programs I was asked to accomplish before being admitted back to Motion Picture Arts.
I have finally returned and am entering my final year; I need to obtain my last 18 credits and be awarded my second Bachelor's in Motion Picture Arts, which has been my academic goal since 2007.
In addition, I hold a crucial amount of loan debt. At the same time, I live with inconsistent health and periodic struggles, making it difficult to stay at the top of my game, bearing a burden on a credit score crucial for my career success.
With your help, your funding will not only assist me in my final year at Capilano University, help me take off student loan debt, but also start a reserve budget for the required funds I will need for attaining my Master's and Doctorate moving forward to UBC and working in the industry under many projects providing me with the more stable environment and ease when I face health challenges.
Sincerely Yours, and thank you very much,
Marco Ashley Dixon
