Future Bodies Food Drive

Dear Okehampton Community,

Today, I am writing to tell you about the Future Bodies Food Drive that I would like us to do for Okehampton residents that are in need this Christmas.

As you are most probably aware, many local people are, for whatever circumstance, sometimes in need of a helping hand. As Christmas is a season of giving, we at Future Bodies want to do just that.

The cost of living crisis is threatening many families abilities to make Christmas the special day that we have all come to love.

Having spoken to Okehampton Food Bank, as it stands there are around 80 families in Okehampton that are regularly relying on a food bank. Sadly, those numbers have increased by around 20% in the last 2 months alone.

Alongside this, the food bank have seen their costs of the absolute basic staples rise by around 25%.

When I set out to build Future Bodies community I wanted to have maximum positive impact on as many lives as possible. Therefore, I see it as our duty to use our platform to help those in need when we are able to do so.

This is totally optional to partake in. Here's how our food drive is going to work…

Future Bodies will be act as a donations drop off on Saturday 10th December between 08:00-13:00hrs (preferred shopping list detailed below). The team and I will drop off the products to ensure that families receive them before Christmas. The food bank is expecting our donations.

All food donated must be long life. Even though we know the goodness of fresh food, it would be impossible to coordinate the delivery of this and for the food bank to use accordingly without waste.

Below is a list of urgent products the food bank needs:

• Christmas Cake
• Mince Pies
• Festive foods
• Presents for primary school aged children - please don’t wrap them
• Washing Powder
• Long life food
• Toothpaste
• Tooth brushes
• Deoderants
• Kitchen Cleaners
• Soap
• Shampoo
• Sanitary products

Below is a list of products the food bank really doesn’t need:
• No pasta
• No baked beans
• No tinned tomatoes
• No soup
• No porridge
• No tinned vegetable or tinned fruit

In addition, I have set a cash donation target of £3,000.00.

Why?

Due to the logistics involved we can’t drop off any fresh produce and time it with delivery in time for Christmas, but the food bank can!

So this is a fundraiser campaign to hit our minimum target of £3,000.00. With these funds we will help provide an extra special Christmas box for every family in need this Christmas.

All donations whether clients, suppliers, Okehampton residents and local businesses would be gratefully received.

Should we surpass our target of monies raised then all funds will be donated for the food bank to use later on in the year.

So come on team and in true Future Bodies style, and in the spirit of giving, let us ensure every family in Okehampton can enjoy Christmas!
