Future Game Programmer Opportunity

Hi family and friends,

My name is Rachel, and I am raising funds for my son Marcus to attend the Envision Game & Technology Academy Summer Program offered by George Mason University.

A little backstory: His former principal and teaching staff at Woodholme Elementary School recommended him to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM program a few years ago due to his grades, involvement in school clubs and extracurricular activities, and how he exemplified the schools core values. Due to his performance in the program, he has been invited to participate in the upcoming Game & Technology Academy program.

Marcus is massively creative, curious, and talented. We always encourage him to focus on his academics and do things that make him happy. He loves to build and create things and share his imaginative spirit with his family, friends, and anyone who listens. Learning how to create a game from start to finish and learning the ins and outs is right up his alley!

This opportunity is significant because it means all his hard work is being recognized, and this is an experience that most kids ( that look like him) don't have the chance to see. Being around kids in his age group who can bring different ideas to the table will allow him to amp up his creativity and help him understand how the real world will operate. Instilling in him a vision for his future and staying focused is very important. This program will be another stepping stone to his future aspirations.

Since he is a middle school, he will be attending the virtual program. The funds will cover the remaining enrollment fee, live lectures from the George Mason University professors and project assistance from the university teaching assistants.
