The Future of Fairfield...and the History Hut!
Tax deductible
As young archaeologists, Dave Brown & Thane Harpole, now Co-Directors of the Fairfield Foundation, had a dream: inspire students of all ages by creating a place for people to learn about history and archaeology in a fun, community-centered way. Finally, their vision is developing as Fairfield Archaeology Park, the site of an early Virginia plantation. This past summer, a 60' by 90' protective structure was built over the 17th-century ruin of the plantation's manor house. New trails have been blazed to trace the plantation's Carter's Creek waterfront. As park develop continues, and thousands of enthusiastic visitors want to learn archaeology techniques, the need for practical things like a space for sit-down teaching are among our highest priorities. Hence, this campaign is launched to raise funds for THE HISTORY HUT! (and, well, you know, anything above and beyond will help us install green restrooms!) Can you help us complete this essential infrastructure? We've almost completed the archeology where we plan to build THE HISTORY HUT! We do archaeology first so we won't overlook any evidence of historical significance. Once completed we will hire contractors to build The History Hut.
Fairfield Archaeology Park has already become a place were people of all ages fall in love with history. Your donations help us cultivate the next generation of archaeologists and historians. If you've been to Fairfield and agree with us that history is important, leave photos of your Fairfield memories along with your donation. Don't forget to tell us why you think Fairfield is special . . . and why you think the History Hut will be great additions. We totally appreciate your support!
