Robotics And Beyond website
My husband Paul Chayka, a materials engineer and Mike Morrissey, an IT professional, MBA and technologist, founded Robotics And Beyond (RAB) in 2004. Their goal was to provide an opportunity for young people to discover and explore topics in science, engineering, technology, and design, and have fun learning tools and concepts that could prepare them for future careers.
Robotics was the perfect attraction to begin, but it quickly expanded to other important and related subjects. I have watched the programs grow from 14 summer campers in 2004, to serving over 400 individuals each year, aged 5-20, in year-round programs. Among RAB’s students is a large proportion of young people with special learning needs. The difference in self confidence and social presence, in all students, that I have witnessed over their years in the programs is amazing and is supported by RAB’s extraordinary approach to peer-mentor development.
RAB's tuition assistance funds allow RAB to invite and engage future contributors and innovators in all fields even when they lack the money to participate in programs. RAB never turns away any student due to lack of funds, even though the demand for assistance always exceeds the modest tuition assistance funds raised each year. However, the shortage of these funds prevents us from searching out, inviting, and engaging with more of these young people. That’s why we’re raising money for our scholarship fund through GoFundMe. We want to expand our outreach and help those who need it most.
If you want to help more of our future citizens and innovators to discover and develop their talents in science, engineering, technology and design, then invest in the Robotics And Beyond tuition assistance fund. Help RAB open un-imagined futures for young people with vast potential. 100% of every dollar raised will go to tuition assistance, lowering or eliminating the cost completely for those who need it.
Below, you can read some testimonials from those who have received financial aid in the past.
A parent of a 10th grade camper who received financial aid:
”I would like to take a moment to thank your organization for all of the financial assistance you have extended to my family and specifically to my daughter. Robotics and Beyond has been the high point of her summers for the past few years and she looks forward to being with other children her age with similar interests and abilities.”
A single parent of three who receives full tuition assistance:
“Kids are having an amazing week (at camp) and all C. can talk about is helping and being a mentor. Both boys have asked if they can stay another week. I know it is a lot to ask but I told them I would. C. would love to stay on and help out. Thank you for being a mentor to my children and for all you do!”
The Robotics And Beyond Mission:
To help young people to thrive in the technological world they encounter, discover and develop their talents, think and communicate effectively, create passionately, enjoy their accomplishments, pursue fulfilling careers, give back, and become role models for future generations.
