Sri Lanka Nursing Placement

Hi, I'm Demmi and in March, I’ll be travelling to Sri Lanka as part of a nursing placement. During this medical elective I will work with children in hospitals and schools. This is an incredible opportunity for me to provide essential healthcare and educational support to children in need.

To make this journey possible, I’m raising funds to cover some the costs of travel. Every contribution will help me get there and make a difference in the lives of these children.

I am excited to immerse myself in the Sri Lankan culture during my nursing placement, where I’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable skills and collaborate with healthcare professionals from a different background. This eye-opening experience will allow me to explore new perspectives on healthcare and enhance my ability to work in diverse environments.

I will be spending my first week working with children aged 4-6 in a local school, helping teach basic education while playing a vital role in interacting with them through learning and play. In the following weeks, I will be working in a government hospital, providing nursing care on both the paediatric and labour wards. This experience will allow me to apply my existing skills while learning new techniques and approaches to patient care in a different setting.
