Baby Fynn's fight, a long road home..

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dani and my partner is Andrew. The photo you see above is our unborn son Fynn. Fynn is our miracle baby who has an omphalocele and a condition called CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia). We're a strong family and are seeking any help when it comes down to the situation we have been put in to ensure a successful beginning of life for Fynn.

I have a beautiful six year old girl, Marlie who has wanted a sibling since her third birthday. You can imagine how excited Andrew and I were to be able to tell her that we were pregnant and she would soon have a sibling. Right away Marlie laughed so hard with excitement that she soon after cried happy tears along with Andrew and I.

I have two rainbow baby boys that watch over my family, Ian, who was stillborn and Asher a late miscarriage. So once I found out I was pregnant again we all knew in our hearts that it was going to be another baby boy. Once it was confirmed I became incredibly nervous due to my previous pregnancies but overjoyed that I have my chance to have a beautiful healthy baby boy.

Shortly after I found out I was pregnant (the five week mark) I experienced a sensation I had felt before in my previous pregnancies, the feeling of utter heart ache when I ran to the restroom and saw how much blood there was. We rushed to the hospital dreading what was going to come…I was told I was miscarrying again, and would not have the baby we were all so excited about. Through some amazing act Fynn turned out okay! He was still with us. Weeks passed and my belly kept growing and Fynn made his presence known to us.

At our 12 week mark our doctor, despite being amazed by the recovery, was worried that something might be wrong and requisitioned us to be seen by a specialist, just to be on the safe side. Which is when we started to get scared again once discovering that baby Fynn had a medical condition called an omphalocele. This means that his intestines and liver are on the outside of his abdominal wall. Our life suddenly became dark as we were in and out of doctors offices and had a constant fear that he wouldn't make it. I struggled to be able to connect with my baby boy out of the intense fear of yet another loss. But he continues to get bigger and stronger with an amazing heartbeat. His kicks, movement and hiccups became beautiful blessings and reminders that he is our amazing warrior baby who has a place in this world!

We fell under a blanket of security that he would be okay in the long run. He will need the surgery(s) to reconstruct the abdomen once delivered but he would be with us and soon a healthy baby. A few days ago at our 31 week appointment we received more devastating news that just resulted in anger. Why does this keep happening to us? Our baby now was diagnosed with CDH, congenital diaphragmatic hernia. This means that his intestines have now moved up and into his chest cavity affecting his heart and lungs.

While most women at this point of their pregnancy are having baby showers, getting their nursery ready, and getting overwhelmed with excitement. We're asking for any kind of help with what's to come in the next several months of all of our lives. Fynn's heartbeat is still strong but with all of his conditions we will have to leave our home of Meridian Idaho and travel to Seattle washintong to deliver. Fynn will have to have be supported with several special treatments including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) until he is deemed healthy enough for not only the reconstruction surgery of the omphalocele but also another to put everything in place and reconstruct the chest cavity.
After all the treatments and several surgeries we will finally be able to bring him back home and have him meet his family for the first time. It is undetermined how long this will take but we're expecting around three months if everything goes well. UPDATE: we are looking at 6 to 8 months. Please read updates to understand.

We are lucky enough to be on medicaid and have been incredibly thankful as they are graciously handling all of the medical expenses. But since getting pregnant I haven't been able to sustain a job due to fear of what would happen to my baby. This means that we have been living paycheck to paycheck thankfully due to Andrew. Andrew unfortunately won't be able to work as much once we make it to Salt Lake, which is where this page comes in.

I am asking for help.

The majority of this is to keep paying our rent of $2000.00 in Meridian Idaho so we have a home to come back to.

Help with gas for the back and forth to see my ray of sunshine, Marlie in Idaho, travel to the hospital every day since we can not stay with Fynn overnight and whatever else we need to go.

We have been extremely blessed and supported by family enough to have a trailer to hopefully stay at or very close to the hospital.
We have a back up of the Ronald McDonald's house, if there is an opening, but we both feel we should leave that spot for a family who doesn't have the option of a camper trailer and the amazing support of family.

Help buying some groceries here and there. The Primary Intermountain childrens hospital has a Ronald Mcdonald ROOM inside the hospital with a fully stocked kitchen, showers, laundry and lounge areas that we plan to fully take advantage of.

Help with all the random odd things a warrior baby needs.
In the shape of special clothing, car seat and whatever else may come up...honestly I have no clue what this special baby needs!

With love, our whole family.
