Wow, where to start.
From Across the Pond has been a true labor oflove for more than a decade, providing food,
made with love and passion, a home from
home and a smile, or a shoulder to cry on for
thousands. We have been the “little engine
that could”, competing with the big boys but
keeping the compassion in business
During the last two years, we have suffered
ill health, bad luck, loss and, now, COVID,
all in a building that we are paying a ridiculous
rent on but which is falling down around our
ears. Surviving without AC, with plumbing
issues that take thousands of dollars a year,
electrical problems and so much more. But we have never, ever, given up.
We fed the needy in our community when COVID kicked in. The Emergency staff in NRH,
the frontliners at Parkland hospital in Dallas - we stepped up because that’s our job as a
community restaurant
when we had to close, we pivoted to deliver
food, literally all over the DFW metroplex.
Aledo to Wylie, Plano to Burleson, McKinney
to Benbrook, Dallas to Fort Worth. We
delivered great food and smiles
But now, now we can reopen, to a financially
hurting community, the landlords want the
full rent, but based on sales which are 30%
of what they were in out pomp.
We have been given the option. Walk away, lease terminated, they will take the property
back. And in some ways that makes sense. But we love to serve, to feed you, to give you a hug
when needed, and the outpouring from our friends and fans, particularly the Gluten-Free
community, has pushed us to give this a try.
We are trying to raise enough money to pay
the shortfall between what we can afford, and what the landlord demands, for the final 14
months of the lease but hate to ask for you to
put yourself in hardship. So, please don’t
donate anonymously as we want to be able to return funds if it doesn’t pan out and, which I'd prefer, let me know your donation and I’ll
provide a gift certificate redeemable at
different points in the next 12 months so
you’re, in essence, pre paying for a meal
With the amazing upturn in followers and friends in the last three months, from 9000 to
over 11 thousand, I truly believe that we are on the cusp of something great and I’d love to
have the opportunity to include you in our
journey
So, let’s see if we can “Save the Pond”. I know
it’s something I’d love to see complete its
destiny of compassion and great food
we love you all
