Nicole's funeral

Hi all, my name is Stacey and I have decided to create this Go fund me as my sister Nicole aged 44, tragically passed away 26/12/2023 leaving behind her 3 children, in which one of the children is now living with me full-time. My sister was treated for multiple serious breaks in her leg and was flown to Adelaide for surgery about 9 weeks ago. She had the surgery and then had rehab on her leg.

When she returned home she was home for a few days, she was sitting on my bed laughing and being her normal self. A couple days later, my sister's pain become unbearable and she found it hard to breathe so she was taken via ambulance to the hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She was then flown out by the retrieval team once more stable.

The next day when she was in the Royal Adelaide Hospital my sister started to lose her speech and movement in her left side of her body. This indicated to the Medical team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital that my sister infact had a blood clot. The blood clot had broken off from her lung and had gone to her brain.

Nicole was then rushed in for major surgery where she unfortunately died twice on the table but they managed to bring her back in a coma and on life support. Our sister was and always has been stubborn and a fighter. We all had hope.

The 24th and 25th Christmas day, we spent by our sisters side holding her hand and praying for a miracle, even when the chances were so slim. Christmas night, I was holding my sisters hand and she twitched. I said "Nic, if you can hear me open your eyes". Nicole opened her left eye and looked straight at me. I was feeling positive and thought she was going to beat this, against all odds we know how stubborn and hard our sister was. But the next morning 26/12/2023 the RAH Medical team called us for a family meeting and I knew exactly what they were going to say but I still had hope. Our sisters organs were shutting down. When Nicole died on the operation table twice, only half her heart started working again. Unfortunately my sisters organs were all shutting down and we didn't have long to say goodbye. Surrounded by Nicole's loved ones Nicole passed away 26/12/2023 on my husbands birthday, 3 hours before my birthday. After leaving my sister at the hospital unfortunately we crashed my car and were stuck on the side of the road (7 seater and now we need to ake two cars to fit us to the funeral, costing us extra money).

Nicole passed away from a blood clot that had travelled to her brain, which killed her mother 40 years before also due to a condition called Factor V Leiden, which unfortunately runs in our family. I just want to be able to help pay for the cost of the funeral and to be able to have accommodation for my family.

My sister will be buried with her mum which is 8 hours away from where we all live. I want to give my sister the farewell she deserves and to try and help my family through this really shitty time.

We miss Nicole so much and this has all taken a huge toll on the family mentally, especially my father, no one should ever have to bury their child. I don't like reaching out for help but unfortunately I am desperate.

We don't know the date of the funeral yet as Nicole's with the Coroner.
