Help Sandy Battle Cancer!

Hi, my name is Nikki and I’m starting a fundraiser for my amazing friend/ co-worker to kick cancer’s ass!

 

On September 27th, Sandy started to experience bilateral leg numbness making it impossible to stand on her own or even walk. She had been dealing with extreme back pain for several weeks and of course, too stubborn to see her doctor. Since the numbness is her legs was a new and unusual symptom, Sandy decided she needed to call an ambulance to take her to the emergency room since she couldn’t walk on her own.

 

Upon arriving at the emergency room and undergoing a CT of her back, it was determined she had several broken bones in her back and one that was touching her spine causing the extreme pain and leg numbness. The plan was to admit her to the hospital and transfer her to another hospital to manage the pain and come up with a treatment plan.

 

After Sandy was transported to another hospital, she had to undergo more tests, including biopsies and blood work. The results Sandy and her family received were devastating and the last thing anyone wants to hear…cancer! It was determined she has breast cancer metastasized to the bone, liver, and spine, also causing a T12 fracture compression in her back. Chemo and radiation is the treatment plan.

 

Sandy is such a devoted mother to her children, Whitney and Ryan, and the proudest grandma of her adorable grandson, Nash. The road ahead of her is going to be long and hard, but she’s got this. While she courageously battles cancer, she will be unable to hold her current position as a supervisor.
