For the Love of Ruth

Donation protected

On June 14, 2020, our good friend, Ruth Haines, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer, survived by her two beloved kitties, Lil’ Bit and Buddy.

In late March of this year, Ruth wrote a detailed post on both Facebook and Acme House of Cats regarding her final wishes with respect to both her beloved Lil’ Bit and Buddy as well as her estate overall. She wanted a percentage of her estate to go to hospice to cover costs and the remainder to go to the shelter from which she adopted Lil’ Bit and Buddy: the Asheville Humane Society.

Just three weeks prior to her death (Memorial Day), a major change occurred in Ruth’s life which left her best laid plans in total disarray and many unanswered questions. These many days after Ruth’s passing, we still do not know when or where or if Ruth will be interred. We still do not know who has Lil’ Bit and Buddy. We still do not know if even a single one of Ruth’s final wishes were carried out. We tried very hard to find out the answers to all of these questions and could not.

The one thing we do know is how much Ruth loved her cats. So, we want to honor Ruth in the only way currently available -- a sizeable donation to the Asheville Humane Society, with an 8x8 Copper Plaque inscribed and placed in their Memorial Garden.

With Endless Love

The cost of this plaque is $500.  We hope to raise even more so that more Lil’ Bits and Buddys can be adopted – perhaps even to another Ruth.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for contributing!
