My Home Is Sinking

My name is Eloise and I have maintained my home for many years without any assistance. However, I am currently facing a horrible situation, which involves me possibly losing my home to very large sinkholes in my backyard. I have done everything I know to do, such as speaking to and emailing the Carroll County Commissioner, State Senator, City Hall inspectors, land developer, and home builder (no longer in business), and I was interviewed by the local news station. I thought the land developer would take responsibility and make the repairs needed. However, I have been unable to get assistance with this situation. The sinkholes are a result of the land developer and the homebuilder burying debris instead of hauling it off the property. Now I am left to clean up the mess, which is unaffordable and has placed me in a situation where my home could be lost to sinkholes.

The funds are needed by February 1, 2016 to hire a contractor and to prevent the sinkholes from getting larger and deeper. The money collected will be used for removal and replacement of my fence, dig out and removal of debris from the holes, and the rebuilding of my yard.

I have been a Social Worker for over 25 years and I am used to giving assistance to those in need of housing and teaching life skills to assist them to become self-sufficient. However, today I find myself in need of assistance with preventing me from losing my home. I love my home and I have worked hard to maintain it and I would hate to lose my home as a result of sinkholes.

Although, I am facing this challenging situation I am thankful to God that he gives me peace of mind in this horrible situation. No matter what’s happening in my life, there is always hope. I know hope is the possibility of a new day, a new outcome, a new anything. I am very thankful for all those reading my story and those praying for me, and those that are able to donate funds.
