Officer Down

On July 16 a police officer in tiny Atlantic Beach, Florida raced to answer an early morning call:  someone was bothering employees as they headed to work at the local Panera. When the officer arrived, the person attacked. He knocked the officer unconscious, kicked him in the head and stomped on his hands. Luckily, back up arrived in time to save the downed officer from further beating and neutralize the attacker.  

This downed officer is a 27-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office who took a job in Atlantic Beach after retirement.  Let's show this officer we appreciate the job he and his colleagues do every day.
