Rally for Riley Balcita

My son Riley was just like every other 8 year old boy. He rode his bike, played with Legos, and went to school. On October 7, 2016, we found out that he has B Cell, Philadelphia Chromosome Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). What a blow!!  This aggressive type of Leukemia affects only 2% of those diagnosed. He went into remission October 10, 2018. Riley is now 10. Now just 4 months later after remission, it’s back!! He will need a bone marrow transplant.

Riley was hospitalized the entire month of February. He is a patent hematology oncology clinic at Children's Hospital Pittsburgh under the care of Drs. Randy Windreich and Allison Close. We are hoping the bone marrow transplant will be soon. He will be off school for at least a year given his suppressed immune system related to the chemo. He is being home bound schooled by Barbara Bollens from west view elementary school. Don’t feel obligated to help, but I am a single mother of 2 (Riley has a brother who is 13). Over the past 2 years I only worked part-time to be able to get Riley to all of his doctor appointments. Since taking a 50% cut in salary over the past few years, savings have run out. This GoFundMe is to collect money to help make ends during this tough time while I focus on getting my son well while being hospitalized these next few months.
