Jay Needs A Home

Friends and Family, my name is Jaime Aalberg. I grew up in Tampa Bay, and often visit my mother, Jay, in Lutz, where my parents shared a home for 45 years.

Jay has now lost everything to Hurricane Milton. Her lifelong home and her car were severely flooded and are beyond repair. After she was dropped by her homeowners insurance company and totaled her car escaping the storm, Jay is left with the clothes and her back and years of artwork that decorated the home. With no place to place to go, she was picked up wandering away from her car in the rain and spent the night in a shelter. She was without power or plumbing for an extended period, sleeping at a neighbor's who also did not have power or water. I rushed down from Pennsylvania with my family, and we moved her to a small apartment for the week, but her long term situation is not clear yet. We urgently need help raising funds to secure Jay a new home. The damaged house will be assessed, but its flooring and subflooring are unsalvageable. We have reached out FEMA for assistance, but the future of the house is still unsure. We hope to eventually bring Jay back home to her lakefront property that holds so many memories, and return many pieces of artwork back to their original home.

Donations will go directly to support Jay's housing and basic necessities like food and electricity. Any locals who are able to provide physical help, as well as, personal visits/ calls to her are greatly appreciated.
