PSYCHED - Short film Fundraiser

Synopsis: After being captured and held in a mental institution, Steven Detmer, with his telepathic and telekinetic powers, has been tasked to find confidential documents about other individuals who share his powers. But as he begins his mission, so does a private military contractor who is desperate for those same documents. As they fight for dominance, chaos ensues within the institution.

Hello,

My name is Christian Drake, writer, and director for the concept project titled “Psyched”. We are asking for$2,000 for this production. And I know we might be asking for a lot, but here is where the funds will be going; this may seem long, but I have some explaining to do.

Feeding the Crew: For this particular short, we will be filming for about 4 days. Utilizing catering companies, the average cost to feed one person for one day is $15-$20. This film set has a cast and crew of over 30 people! That is a minimum total of $1,800 alone!

Filming Equipment: From hard drives to lenses to light rentals, the crew's needs can be extensive. So far, our expenses require a minimum of $1,500 for the camera team, gaffer, and editors to properly capture the intensity of this project.

Special FX: Our Special FX Makeup artists is very good at what they do. However, arts and crafts at this level take a lot more than some paint and brushes. Our cast currently consists of 20+ individuals who need makeup, blood effects, and other special fx for 4 days straight. Let’s just say they need more than a few brushes to get the job done.

Wardrobe: As many of you know all too well clothes are not exactly cheap, especially when 20+ people need specific clothing to fit the bill. Currently, our wardrobe team needs just over $600, to make the Psyched world seamless for your viewing pleasures.

Finally, Production Design: Production design is one of the most important parts of a production. This department gives the world in the film its texture in how it looks and feels. From posters to fake glass, a project of this size asks for much to be done to achieve full immersion. The Design team costs are expected to be over $1,000.

Please consider all this when donating to this project. Should all go well, this film will be one of the largest student-made short films to ever come out of San Jose State. Help make some talented students come together and make something special.
