Update: Melissa Halphen's Fight

Soon our dear friend, classmate, and a single mother of two starts chemo treatments for the return of cancer after living almost five years of being cancer free. We all think we know how that would feel, how we would handle the unknowns that lie ahead, but the reality is we can't even begin to comprehend the changes in her life. So it's time for Melissa Cooper Halphen to not only hear the love but to see the full love and support from each and everyone of us.

Melissa has spent her life taking care of others. As a nurse that cares for and looks after those in need, not only by offering the medical care she is trained to do, but also with the personal compassion that fills her heart. Whether it be with taking groceries by or food for the pets, she has always gone the extra mile for those that depend on her. As a single mom to an 8th grader, she has never turned down the opportunity to be there for him, supporting him at every busy teenager event. I am sure you have a story of when she extended her hand to you, so now is your chance to give back. With all the unknown expenses that lie ahead as she begins a year-long regimen of chemo treatments, we are looking to everyone that can to please make a donation that will go directly to Melissa and her son. We have chosen to work with Go Fund Me for this fundraising event with the full understanding that 7.9% of each donation will be taken in a fee. After much consideration and research we feel comfortable that this is suitable and will provide us the best opportunity to raise the goal of $12,000 to assist Melissa for the next year, while she undergoes treatments.
