Help Me Fight Cancer and Keep My Home

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Mike, and I’m reaching out during one of the most challenging times of my life.

I’m a former serviceman and have always faced life’s battles head-on—but this is one I can’t fight alone. I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer and am currently on palliative care. While I’m doing everything I can to manage my health, I’m now facing an eviction that threatens the little stability I have left.

My landlord, a registered charity, has decided to sell the house and remove it from their books, refusing to address vital repairs—costing between £20,000 and £47,000—that should have been done years ago. Instead of fulfilling their responsibility to maintain the property, they are washing their hands of it entirely and forcing me out. This is despite spending millions on new builds and writing off significant debts elsewhere.

I’ve lived here for four years, building a strong support network of friends and community members who have been a lifeline in my battle with cancer. This is more than just a home—it’s my last chance at stability. The people here have shared knowledge, resources, and emotional support, many of which have been invaluable in helping me fight this illness. Losing this support system would not only uproot my life but could directly impact my ability to keep fighting.

The remoteness of this area makes finding alternative housing nearly impossible, and relocating hundreds of miles away would cut me off from the people, care team, and resources I rely on.

My Goal:

If I can raise enough funds, I will be able to buy my home outright, as I cannot secure a mortgage due to my illness. Owning the home would mean I could continue living here without fear of eviction, surrounded by the people and support that keep me going.

A Legacy of Gratitude:

Should this cancer ultimately beat me, I would like to donate this home to the local community as a way of saying thank you. My hope is that it could provide support and stability for someone else facing homelessness or hardship, ensuring this gift lives on as a legacy of kindness and generosity.

I served this country with pride, and now I need to ask for help. No one should have to choose between fighting cancer and fighting to keep their home.

Your support—whether through donations or sharing my story—means the world to me.

Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.

With gratitude,

Mike
