Go Gabby Go- Beat Leukemia

Gabby was diagnosed with "APML," or "Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia" on June 18th, 2014. Gabby went to the doctor because she was getting a lot of bruises, and her mom noticed a weird rash on her legs. It turns out Gabby had "petechiae," which means she was bleeding into the skin. Gabby had a blood test that confirmed she was at a very high risk for bleeding and was sent to Fletcher Allen for a diagnostic evaluation. A bone marrow biopsy confirmed that she did have this rare form of leukemia. APML causes abnormal blood cells to crowd out the bone marrow so that normal, healthy blood cells aren't able to circulate in the body, only the sick, cancer cells. This puts Gabby at a high risk for bleeding and infection. It is a very rare type of childhood cancer, and usually only accounts for 1% of childhood cancers. Gabby will have a long road ahead of her, but she is a soldier and a rock star and has everyone praying for her!! Please help Gabby and her family fight this battle and donate what you can to help!
