Invest in Health: Help Gabby Defeat Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nicole and I'm fundraising on behalf of my dear friend Gabby Farmer, who was diagnosed this past June with a rare form of brain cancer. After experiencing intense neck pain and headaches, doctors discovered a tumor called a pediatric meningioma. We were shocked to learn that what we initially thought was stress or muscle soreness was actually an incredibly fast-growing Medulloblastoma. These tumors grow so rapidly that they are referred to as SHH (Sonic Hedgehog) Medulloblastoma and are very rarely found in persons over the age of ten. This is the first case in an adult that many of her doctors have ever seen.
Gabby had her first brain surgery within 24 hours of its discovery. Two months after her surgery, the tumor had already grown back and she had to undergo a second surgery. She is currently undergoing expensive radiation therapy which will soon be paired with chemotherapy.
Gabby must leave the place she calls home because she needs the support of her family in Trinidad. Countless MRI's, CT scans and all of the ancillary expenses associated with the medical treatments are a massive financial burden, and we are eternally grateful for whatever assistance you are able to provide so that she receives the best medical care possible.
Gabby has been amazingly positive and has stayed motivated throughout these difficult months, having to navigate the labyrinthine world of insurance policies and healthcare. She continues to be an incredible friend and laughs off the hurdles that life has placed before her. True to her character, Gabby continues to place the needs of everyone she meets above her own, even when her world is now in such a state of flux. Her biggest concern is leaving behind her beloved bunny rabbits with her loved ones here in Grand Cayman, all of which shows how big her heart is. Thank you for whatever you are able to contribute to my sweet Gabby's medical fund and recovery.
