Celebrating Gabe by helping kids!

October 7, 2015 would have been Gabriel Scott Howard's fifth birthday. Tragically, we lost him to SIDS on January 3, 2011. We followed all of the guidelines for preventing SIDS. We did everything right, but sometimes following all the rules doesn't prevent a tragedy.
To honor Gabe and to celebrate his all too short 86-day life, his Dad and I are asking for help in providing presents to the kids in St. Vincent Family Center's Residency program in lieu of being able to give presents to our little man.
These are some of the most amazing and vulnerable kids in our community, and they could use something to celebrate... a day to feel loved and important.
These kids hold a special place for my family. We connect with them. And, while we could not prevent what happened to our son, we can help these kids by making their life a little brighter. I called and asked their director if there was anything the kids really wanted. Kids being kids, they asked for an xbox. So, our goal is to provide them with an xbox and appropriate games, and if we can, additional board games, beds in a bag and clothes. We'd like to deliever these presents to them on October 7.
Here is a link to a video I did for the State of Ohio Department of Health for Ohio's Infant Mortality Conference in December of 2014. It was hard for me to film this and maybe harder for me to share this openly, but it gives insight into the day we lost Gabriel and how he brought us to St. Vincent Family Center. If you have lost a child, I want you to know this could be a trigger for you.

Thank you for your help celebrating our son's life and the amazing affect he continues to have on the lives of these kids and so many others!
