Green Beret Julio Ramirez's surviving Child Fund

Hello Family! Thank you for your Time.

I am Gabriela Ramirez, Daughter of the lineage of what Special Forces and our wonderful community have taught me. I am a student at Appalachian State University. I have worked as hard as possible to maintain great grades and independently financed what I needed. I was selected out of many, to advance my studies overseas, where I have the opportunity to excel and further our future with Honors Thesis and Capstone Research program (COST $7500, I saved $4000 but was caught short last minute).
After my father's passing, I worked hard to get into App State with a full academic scholarship and continue to maintain my role at App States Honors College. I am currently getting my BFA in Graphic Design With the hope of entering the workforce as a UX and UI product designer. This trip to Spain will not only benefit me in working on my senior thesis and capstones but also allow me the resources to network in my intended field. I know my father, Julio Ramirez, would have been proud of how far I've come and would want me to see the world her once did. I work hard to keep his legacy alive and strive to make him and my mother proud. I appreciate the assistance and promise to pay it forward. God Bless and thank every one of you that took the time to read this.

Sunday Salute: Julio Cesar Ramirez 'always cared about our community'
Staff WriterThe Fayetteville Observer
In recent years, the Mexican contingent in the International Folk Festival Parade of Nations has been hard to miss.
Julio Cesar Ramirez can be thanked for that.
"The city of Fayetteville lost an amazing force," said Debra Mintz, director of the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, when she heard Ramirez lost his battle with leukemia.
While assigned to Fort Bragg in 2002, Ramirez created the "Cinco de Mayo" 10k race, which rapidly outgrew Fort Bragg. Ramirez moved the event to Fayetteville in 2004, where it became much larger and popular. He also organized and coordinated races like the 7th Special Forces Group Jingle Bell Jog, Run for the Pink, the local Special Olympics Run and the Taste of Africa Run.
"My father always wanted to do his best," said his daughter Gaby Ramirez. "He always put people first, above himself, even while sick. He loved people and the community. He would always ask us to be strong and smile."
Thank You Special Forces Chapter 7 for keeping the Promise.
