Gabo's Road to Recovery #Team777
Donation protected
On April 3rd, 2022, my dear friends, Iveth & Luis, received a call that no parent is ever truly prepared for. The voice on the other end was a stranger letting them know their son, Gabo, only 20, was involved in a horrific car accident- 5 minutes away from home. Within moments of Rescue arriving at the scene, Gabo lost his pulse. They performed CPR for 6 minutes to reestablish his heartbeat, and he was taken to the ICU at Memorial Regional in Hollywood, FL. Gabo was not supposed to live through the night as he sustained major head trauma. The brain MRI showed his injury was so severe that Gabo would require assistance with 100% of his basic life skills.
After three months of intensive interventions and therapy, first at Memorial and later at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Gabo was discharged, and his devoted family made the difficult choice to assume full care of their son at home.
At this moment, Gabo is considered to be in a vegetative state, but therapists have indicated that he is making incremental improvements. Gabo is incredibly strong and his determination is evident in the simple fact that he is here and fighting every day to make progress. But this road to recovery will be long and expensive. In the future, he will need ongoing physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Unfortunately, insurance fails to provide most of the essential elements for Gabo, including the nursing care he desperately needs. Mom and Dad are working day and night to care for Gabo, as well as trying to maintain a healthy home life for their two other children, Tati and Noah.
Iveth and Luis are deeply humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love, support and continued prayers they have experienced since the day of the accident. Join us in our efforts to support them and relieve some of the burdens from the ongoing medical bills, nursing help and any added expenses they will continue to incur in the future. Please donate, and above all else, please keep Gabo and his family in your prayers.
